MY DISH - Urad Dal Jalebi with dry fruit rabri

It was believed that Lord Ram loved shashkouli (now called as jalebis) and since Dussehra is celebrated in respect to Lord Ram's win over the evil Ravana - people devour these delectable twirls of fried, sugary goodness on this day.

*Let me also explain you that how shashkouli is now named as "JALEBI"*..🤔 Shashkuli is a sanskrit word, in sanskrit "shashkouli" means the ear-hole which is rounded like a coil, therefore Rasa-Shashkuli is a suited name for Jalebi.

Why I have also added rabri with jalebi..? When the Jalebis and Rabdi enters your mouth and crush it in your mouth, the cocktail of sugar syrup and Rabdi with crackling sound of Jalebi makes you to go for another one. Your desire to have many more continues and you are never satisfied. That’s the specialty. 💕Happy Dussehra💕

Jalebi and Fafda are Gujarat's special foods. It is said that eating these delicacies together on Dussehra is auspicious. As per the old-tales, Lord Rama's one of the favourite sweets was Shashkuli which is also known as Jalebi and he celebrated his victory over Ravana by having Jalebi. Additionally, Fafda is paired with Jalebi as Hindus believe that you should end your fast by consuming something prepared using gram flour.
